More ups & downs of cheerleading

This week has been a busy week for Kiera & cheer.  They have been working really hard preparing for the upcoming pep assembly as the state tournament for basketball approaches.  They have had some injuries on the squad so Kiera was working hard to master a roundoff back handspring for one of the routines to help fill in.  It was going well until her she tried it "one more time".  Unfortunately, she caught her finger under her hand upon landing and heard a "pop"!  She went ahead and cheered the rest of the night after the trainer looked at it and taped it up.  He told her if it wasn't better by Monday to go see a doctor.  A super nice ward member offered to x-ray it at his dental office the next day so we did & he did not see a break.  Whew!  Or so we thought.......  On Monday, it was still quite swollen & painful so we went in to see the doctor.  They x-rayed it again and yes, it was broken.  It was broken in/on the joint.  So now we get to go see the orthopaedic/sports specialist to make sure it heals correctly so she does not have any problems down the road due to the break being in/on the joint.  Poor girl!  The amazing part is....she was still able to cheer (just not tumble) for the pep assembly and has not even missed a practice.  She has been a real trooper!  We are very proud of her!

Wow, way to work through the pain! I always knew Kiera was a tough cookie.
