Much to my children's delight, we got up Saturday morning and went to the church to do a little canning. This was a first for them and as you can imagine, they were overwhelmed with excitement! The nearest cannery for us is about 2 hours away. We are fortunate that our ward emergency preparedness specialist is fantastic. She is always on top of the deals in our area (and out of our area) and opens doors of opportunity for us all of the time. We were blessed that one of our ward members was traveling to Missoula and offered to take a truck and trailer and stop by the cannery to pick up supplies for anyone who wanted to bulk up their food storage. Our stake has a sealer for both cans and pouch so we just had to order the supplies and we could do it right here in Helena. It has been quite a few years since we have added to our food storage through the cannery plus with all of our moves over the last few years we had depleted it greatly. So here is our result:

110 cans

The kids did a fantastic job helping out. Everyone had a job and did it well. Even our great friend Megan joined in and helped out. Total there was about 12 of us. We turned out 301 cans in about 3 1/2 hours (including set up and clean up). Not bad!
Kyle missed out on all of the fun due to travel, but we saved the best for last just for him. UNLOADING!!!

Wow! That is quite the haul! I am impressed with your food storage bulk-up.
Now I'm just wondering: where did Kyle put all of those cans he unloaded?
